Central Park

Tell me, do you remember
Our last golden November?
We're together, surrounded by Central Park.
Nature falls silent after dark,
And you say: "Forgive me..." without looking me in the eyes
We forgot about our coffee and apple pies.
"For what?" — but I know your answer,
Like on the dance floor a lonely dancer
Knows, why he's here.
The air between us became empty and clear.
You stay silent, and then get up and leave.
The wind blows away the last maple leaf.
I look at you and slowly die.
You’re gone, and I’m just as cold as my coffee and apple pie.
